Discovering Roxani Estate near Chania, Crete
Some places need very little introduction; Roxani Estate, a wedding venue in Chania, Crete, is one of them. Set between the villages of Armenoi and Kalyves, in the Apokoronas region of Chania, the estate extends across roughly ten acres of fertile, green land. The scale feels generous, yet balanced—large enough to offer variety, intimate enough to feel contained. From different points across the property, the White Mountains rise quietly in the distance, adding depth that shifts with the light throughout the day.
Through my lens
The visuals throughout this page are drawn from two separate weddings, offering a glimpse into how differently the space can be experienced. They are also paired with a photoshoot in Chania’s Old Harbor, approximately 30 minutes away—an element that combines naturally and complements the overall experience.

A Day That Follows the Landscape
Weddings here tend to unfold in response to the landscape itself. A long path forms one of the estate’s most striking features. As the walk unfolds along this natural aisle, a quiet sense of anticipation begins to build—guided by symmetry and framed by the distant mountains that complete the scene. The space feels both open and intimate, allowing the moment to settle in naturally.
As you move through the grounds, smaller elements appear gradually—a stone chapel, a simple bridge, quiet garden corners that feel almost discovered rather than designed. Guests move easily from one part of the day to the next. The transitions—from ceremony to dinner, and into the evening—feel fluid, guided more by the space than by any fixed plan.

A Sense of Privacy
One of the defining qualities here is the sense of enclosure. A high stone wall surrounds the property, creating a natural boundary that shapes the experience from within. It brings a feeling of separation that allows everything inside to feel more focused. For destination weddings, this sense of privacy becomes an essential part of the experience. Guests arrive from different places and quickly ease into the environment, allowing the celebration to feel more present and connected.

Evenings at Roxani Estate Wedding Venue
Towards sunset, the character of the estate evolves gently. The mountains soften in the distance, the gardens deepen in tone, and the textures of the stone take on a warmer quality. As evening settles in, candles and soft string lights bring warmth into the setting, while above, the clear Cretan sky becomes part of the experience. On many nights, the stars are strikingly visible—something guests often remember long after the celebration.

A Heritage Preserved
At the centre of the grounds stands the historic Skordilon Manor, linked to one of the oldest noble families of Crete, with roots in the Venetian period. That history is present in a very physical way—in the texture of the stone, in the proportions of the buildings, and in how they settle naturally into the land. The restoration has focused on preserving these qualities. The original materials remain visible, and the architectural language stays intact, allowing the past to continue shaping the space in a quiet, grounded way. The atmosphere carries a sense of authenticity—one that doesn’t rely on decoration or reinterpretation, but on what is already there.

A Place That Adapts, Without Changing
Over time, the estate has welcomed couples from across Europe, the UK, Australia, the United States, and beyond. Each brings a different rhythm, different traditions, and often a different way of celebrating. Some weddings are intimate and understated; others are larger and shaped by cultural rituals. The space supports all of these variations while maintaining its own identity.
